Ariadna Vendelova
Ariadna is an aerial dancer, choreographer, performer, teacher from Košice, Slovakia, where she works with her companies Ariadnina Niť and Lalyra. She is an aerial artist researching within the field of aerial dance and new circus, specialising in aerial silks and hoop. Her movement quality, creative focus and holistic approach to movement arts have been deeply influenced by yoga, dance improvisation and nature, as well as by her experience of motherhood, by feminism and by artistic and geographical isolation within the genre. She is a co-director of an international festival Cat ́s Paw Experimental Aerial Dance Meeting together with Emily Aoibhean (IR), and has many ongoing projects, including touring her new solo production All My Skirts (2019), with a supervision of Fred Deb ́ (FR) which has been performed at festivals Move Fest Košice 2020 (SK), La Nuit du Cirque (FR), Fun Fatale 2021 (CZ), Les Rencontres de Danse Aerienne 2021 (FR), Art-In-Res Fest 2021 (SK) and others. She recently premiered a movement installation/experimental site-specific performance Inner Spaces (2021); a community based children´s new circus show O Jankovi Polienkovi (2021); and had released a scholarship-supported short dance film thematizing trauma from isolation ´A few decades of dying´ (2021). She is in the research process for new work on a site-specific performance Anam (2022), a dance on a tree in a natural environment.
She performed in Sorry Gold by Emily Aoibheann during Dubline Fringe Festival 2019 (IR), productions with Divadlo Na Peróne (SK), and many others, including her own creations Birds (2018-2019) and In The Wind (2019), both presented at contemporary arts festival White Night (Nuit Blanche). Ariadna is also a poetess, currently working on creating a publication platform for poetry of women Moje More, a yoga practicioner and teacher, and a passionate advocate for enviromentalism, calling for the return to Nature in the physical, ecological and spiritual sense of the word.
She has taught aerial silks, hoop and yoga around festivals and studios in Europe: Prague Aerial Convention (CZ), Les Rencontres De Danse Aerienne (FR), Aerial Arts Festival Austria (AU), Grazer Akrobatik Festival (AU), World Circus Day (SK), Žonglobalizace (CZ), and others.
